Petrified Wood
Derived from the Greek root ‘petro’, meaning rock or stone. The process of wood turning to stone begins when a tree starts to fossilize. As the fossilized tree continues on its journey into becoming stone, different minerals begin to fill in where plant materials once were.
Depending on the location of the original tree, different deposits can be found in the stones. Agate, chalcedony,
opal, quartz and other minerals are found in petrified wood. Each individual piece containing its own unique makeup, making each piece a very specific and fine-tuned healer.
Petrified Wood has been forming for millions and millions of years and is a great reminder that nothing in this world is permanent.
Just like the wood has been turned to stone over time, our own lives be transformed by the power of time.
